Buttars Should Resign

Feb 21st, 2008 | By Jon | Category: Politics

If you are in Utah and have paid any attention to the news you’ll have heard about one of our local embarrassments, a State Senator named Chirs Buttars, and the blatantly racist comments he made a few days ago saying about a bill “This baby is black. It is a dark and ugly thing.”

His response to those angered by his disgracefully comments was to say the he was being attacked by a “hate lynch mob.”

Now The World According to Me has created a petition online where people can go to voice their of non-support for Buttars. Check out the We Don’t support Chris Buttars petition.

GrandCentral

grandcentral.jpgEvery once in a while something comes along and changes the way we live. Gmail revolutionized email by giving users practically unlimited storage when 10 megs was the industry standard. Tivo ond DVRs changed the way we consume TV. Now a new service from Google may be able to do the same thing for telephones.

GrandCentral is a new service that gives you a new local phone number. Why would you want another number? Well it’s because of what it can enable you to do with that number. The idea is that this new number becomes the last one you ever need. You can answer calls to that number from any phone, and make calls originating from that number. That is only the beginning though. more…

Our little Monkey

We’re teaching Evan to fold his arms when we bless the food. He’s doing really good at it, so much so that he folds his arms randomly throughout the day. It’s kind of funny. He also thinks his hat and gloves are the best thing ever, it normally means it’s time to go outside. He just finds them in his room and brings them to me to be put on. Obviously this was early in the day, as he’s still in his pajamas.

Charlie is checking to see if there is any breakfast left on Evan’s face.

I feel like a somewhat succesful mother. I taught Evan to get on and off his horse by himself. It’s great, and he always seems so proud of himself.

Evan has discovered the camera. I asked him to smile and he made this funny face. What a silly guy.

I know it’s late but I love Valentines Day!

Feb 19th, 2008 | By Jennifer | Category: Uncategorized

I know it’s a little late, but here is my tribute to Valentine’s Day. It’s not Valentine’s Day unless sugar cookies with sprinkles are made.
And a Valentine’s Day doesn’t go by with out my mom sending us something. This year it was the cutest little bags, and an outfit for Evan. Oh and a little pink outfit, there’s some hope that our bundle of joy, due in August might be a girl. It makes me just a little bit excited . And Jon came through with Roses, even a day before. I know it’s silly but a girl just likes flowers. Hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day

Buttars is an Idiot and a Racist

Feb 13th, 2008 | By Jon | Category: Politics

chris_buttars.jpgI always know I am not going to like a news story when ever I hear Chris Buttars name mentioned. This Utah State Senator consistently introduces the most backwards legislation imaginable, every single year. This year he is gallantly working to ensure that Salt Lake cannot offer insurance benefits to unmarried Gay or Lesbian couples. Because obviously letting Gays have insurance benefits threatens my marriage.

Now, Buttars is is hot water for a blatantly racist comment he made during a debate in the Senate yesterday. “This baby is black It’s a dark ugly thing,”. While he apologized later, saying that he did not mean it as a racist comment, Buttars true meaning is evident when reviewing the video. more…

Food At Grandma Betty’s House

Feb 12th, 2008 | By Jennifer | Category: Uncategorized

The Lohrke family never has an excuse to get together and eat. So in honor of Morgan and Henry being in town we all got together at Grandma Betty’s house on Sunday for some meatballs and cupcakes. (That doesn’t sound right, but it was all good)

A few pictures were snapped of Evan by the amazingly wonderful photographer Dustin Bradbury. He happens to be dating a cousin of mine. He’s done some wonderful work, especially Vanessa’s Bridals and wedding photos. Check him out, he’s good.

Evan wasn’t feeling the best while we were there. He has a nasty cough. Some how these pictures captured exactly how he was feeling.
