A Fine Frenzy

March 18th, 2008

They say when it rains it pours. Well it seems like when finding new music that is usually the case. In the same week I found Tift Merritt, I also stumbled on to A Fine Frenzy. I really like this single from her first album, One Cell in the Sea.

Check it out.

Tift Merritt

another-country-cover.jpgOne of the new albums I have been listening to is Another Country by Tift Merritt. The CD is full of beautiful, melodic songs. She actually reminds me of Alison Krauss, but perhaps without as much of a country twist.

My favorite song is probably the albums namesake Another Country.  However, my guess is the single from the album is Broken.  Check it out, my guess is you’ll be hooked to.

They say the only things you can count on in this world are death and taxes. Well, they might need to add that when Apple runs a commercial it is bound to have a great song playing in the background.

The topic of the demise of jingles, and the rise of commercials being tied to new artists is one that I wont write about now. But, in the meantime enjoy some Yael Naim, and say thanks to Apple for bringing us yet another really great artist.

Brandi Carlile

I really like this song by Brandi Carlie. It starts of slow, but as it gets going it starts to get a little bit of an edge to it.

Regina Spektor

Jennifer liked a song in a JCPenny commercial we recently saw so she looked it up. It turns out to be by Regina Spektor. The song in the commercial is a short bonus track on her newest CD, Begin to Hope. After listening to the album I really like the first 3 songs: Fidelity, Better, and Samson.

Here is the first song from the CD:
