The Democratic debate in Las Vegas is tonight, but I will not be watching it live on CNN. Instead I’ll wait and watch it online.

The New York Times has an innovative way of presenting the presidential debates on their websites. They show you the video of the debate alongside the written transcript. You can scroll through the written transcript and skip to the sections that are most relevant, and for some reason being able to read what the candidates say makes it an even more powerful tool for analyzing the candidates than watching live. Additionally they have a unique tool called a transcript analyzer. Together with the video transcript the two tools offer a unique and powerful way of viewing an important part of our democracy.
