Tift Merritt

One of the new albums I have been listening to is Another Country by Tift Merritt. The CD is full of beautiful, melodic songs. She actually reminds me of Alison Krauss, but perhaps without as much of a country twist.
My favorite song is probably the albums namesake Another Country. However, my guess is the single from the album is Broken. Check it out, my guess is you’ll be hooked to.

The album is good but Tift will not really break out until she gets a harder edge. There are too many women around singing ballads, and no matter how lovely the songs are, they generally do not break through on either charts or radio. “Broken” is directionally there, but she needs a really kickin’ song to have that one hit that will get her found in a bigger way.
